Have you ever wondered what are the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence? how it can improve itself in a very short time and giving better results in the most complicated projects most of the time better than humans?

The first question to ask when thinking about artificial intelligence is: “Can machines think? – Alan Turing, 1950”.

Let’s reveal the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence.

What is AI

Simply, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the process of transforming human knowledge into a machine that is modified to think like people and copy their activities.

The term may likewise be applied to any machine that shows attributes related to a human brain.

For example, learning and critical thinking.

Why is AI Important For The Future?

If you think a little you can find that Artificial intelligence exists already today, in our phones, in our computers, even in cars, everywhere…

Imagine a world in which everything is now connected, so not just you and your smartphone.

We are talking about trucks connected to pallets connected to packaging connected to products.

At the same time connected to these drones that are now gonna be delivering things from the sky.

So these retailers are investing massive amounts of money in building these smart warehouses now.

China transformed already their payment system on phones, so people walk on the streets with empty wallets.

It just happens with a QR code that the phone capture when you need to make a payment to a restaurant, clothe shopping, or any type of shopping out there.

The future of AI will exist in everything soon.

Sixty-one percent of respondents to a recent Deloitte Insights report say that AI will largely transform their industry in the next 3-5 years.

Also with 53% of those polled spending more than $20 million during the past year on AI tech and talent.

Artificial intelligence’s expanding centrality to business measures, and even procedure, is not, at this point easy to refute.

How Does AI Work

Machine learning is one of the best-known branches of AI, this technic helps computers learn by reputation, thru patterns that track millions of data, it’s statistical learning that helps predict future behaviors, machines are improved by content acquiring wisdom without human intervention.

Top 5 Advantages of Artificial Intelligence

AI machines or robots are always available, instead of making people work in a daily job to achieve a long-term goal, machines will do the work instead 24×7 with the same rhythm and more efficiently, which will save a lot of time and increase the velocity of companies hard tasks.

2.Cut off Human Errors

Human is known by making errors, it’s something that we can never have control of, it’s instinctive. On the other hand, machines are made by humans but with a lot of experience and hard work to make them look the way they are today.

However, machines will not make errors as long as humans have programmed them professionally.

Example: There is a lot of software available that does data entry, humans program them to do the same task consistently,  which reduces the error.

3.Didn’t Contain Any Risk

This is one of the biggest advantages of Artificial intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence reduces many risky limitations of humans by developing an AI robot that can make risky operations.

AI can predict any disaster, which eases the pressure on humans and has the potential to fix technical problems compared to human direct intervention.

4.Better Human Decisions Making

By fast and accurate data analysis did with AI by machines & behaviors, humans can understand the nature of tasks given to those machines which can lead to better decision making by understanding the point of weakness in each process machines are making.

However, machines can take fast decisions in many fields.

Which reduces the stress of Decisions Making, and taking more bigger decisions.

Example: When you play any PC game vs PC bots, most of the times bots will beat you and take a faster decision.

On the other hand, it helps you to understand how those bots interact, and then you will change the way you play this game the next time.

5.Solve Complex Problems

Artificial Intelligence can help data scientists, programmers, teachers, experts in solving complex problems, because of the way that machine learning interact with each problem.

Example: Google has made an AI that solves calculus problems, after reviewing results, the accuracy of Google AI on solving these complex calculus problems was 98%.

The efficiency of the AI could time & effort on other mathematical tasks, for example, when proving theorems, as Nikos Aletras said at the University of Sheffield in the UK.

Top 5 Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence

1.No Ethics

Machines don’t have emotions, which leads them to not having ethics, which means they can be driven by humans most of the time.

In the end, humans who invented this robot can make changes to the algorithms of robotics but can never put emotions into these robots.

It’s hard to automate intelligent robots to incorporate feelings into them.

2.Affect Human Jobs

The biggest disadvantage of AI is that it replaces humans in some fields of work today, however, with the increase of unemployment around the world, AI has a huge impact on this change.

According to, In April 2020, the unemployment rate reached 14.8%—the highest rate observed since data collection began in 1948. In May 2021, unemployment remained higher (5.8%) than it had been in February 2020 (3.5%).

You can understand from this photo that the drone had replaced the cameraman after just 10 years.

3.Very High Cost

The cost of programming a machine to implement AI into it is very high according to its value performing tasks.

Sometime you will find that’s better to find someone to do the job for you instead of paying a huge cost to make AI do the work.

To make any AI project you need at least 2 people with a bachelor’s degree in software engineering.

With some experiments before with robotics to make any type of AI, they should also understand complex data to interact with any issue.

However, fixing machines can cost more than you think

Example: Making a self-driving car will cost you a lot of money instead you can hire a driver who will do this work for you.

4.Not Comfortable For Small Busines

When you run a small business, you don’t have a lot of tasks that robots can make at your place.

It’s more comfortable for big businesses like factories, as it needs to automate its factory’s processing in the willingness of reducing operational costs, winning time, by integrating computation machines into their systems, also obtained by automating the processing.

So bigger companies can invest in those fields to produce or provide their product and services efficiently.

5.Make People Lazy

I will take a self-driving car as an example, when you drive your car, you need to concentrate on the road and stay focused to reach the desired destination and reduce the risk of being involved in a car accident, which means your brain should be working, interacting, analyzing, what’s happening outside the car.

With making a self-driving car do the work by applying machine learning techniques to get you to the same destination.

There is a high possibility to make your brain time lazier, which will reduce your intelligence and unfortunately ending up replacing you with AI.

These were some of the advantages and disadvantages of Artificial Intelligent that I covered in this topic.

In the end, it’s us, humans, who invented those machines, and humans should evaluate and rethink how they structured those machines, and assume the use of these robots to perform hard tasks and help humans to make their tasks easier.

Do you think that Artificial Intelligence will dominate our lives in the future?
