However, as of today, these two options are not available for everyone.
There are some specific regions that have access to these features.
So in order to start seeing videos that you like on TikTok, you need to help the algorithm recognize and understand your behavior.
Once you show the algorithm what you like and what you don’t, it will automatically start showing you videos that you are interested in.
The following recommendations and steps below will help you to change your interests on TikTok.
1.Tap on not Interested
The first thing you need to do while scrolling down on the FYP page is to take out the unwanted videos.
So when you are scrolling down, and you see an annoying video, simply tap and hold on to the video.
Then a new popup will show up.
On that popup, there are multiple options.
One of these options is the “Not interested” option.
To get rid of these types of videos that you’re not interested in, tap on “Not interested”.
By doing so, the algorithm will start recognizing what you don’t like.
2.Block the creator’s profile that you don’t like
Perhaps you are not interested in videos from a specific creator, you need to block that creator.
You’ll also need to block the creator if you tapped on “Not interested”, and still see videos uploaded by them.
To block the creator on TikTok, you need to tap on their profile.
When the page opens, tap on the three points at the top right of the screen.
Then on the popup, tap on “Block”.
This will help you not only to change your interests regarding that specific creator but blocking their specific sound if it’s used on popular TikTok videos in your FYP.
This means you will no longer receive any video that contains the creator’s sound.
3.Like Videos
When you like the video, you’ll send signals to the algorithm to let it know that you like this type of video.
Therefore, you’ll start seeing similar videos related to your interest on the FYP.
Although TikTok has a distinct algorithm formula from other social media platforms, there is always something in common between them.
The common factor is the like factor.
It’s also available on both Instagram and Facebook.
So if you are willing to change or update your interests on TikTok, you’ll need to like the videos that you see.
4.Comment on videos
Commenting on the videos shows the algorithm that you’re interacting with the content.
It’s the best way to tell the algorithm that you like this type of content.
The bad news is that TikTok hasn’t revealed completely how its algorithm system works.
However, you need to know that comments on social media play a crucial role in building your interests base of data.
Even more, when you comment on TikTok, you’ll help the algorithm to mimic a best friend that knows everything about you.

5.Add to Favorite

To add a video to your favorite on TikTok, you only need to tap on the “Bookmark” icon.
After doing so, your video will be added to the Favorites page.
6.Watch the video till the end
As YouTube considers watching time one of the major backbone of how its algorithm ranks content, TikTok also adopts this concept.
However, you need to consider watching at least 70% of the videos you like to see again, to let TikTok show you similar ones.
Sometimes a distinct video might prompt your interest, so you end up watching it twice.

7.Follow the Creator that you like
The last thing to do is to follow the creator as an appreciation of what they’ve done.
