Why Can’t I Hide TikTok Live Chat?

If you’re not able to hide the comments on any TikTok live, make sure that you’ve updated the app.

This is the first thing that you need to do.

After checking the app update and finding out that you still can’t hide the chat on TikTok live, you need to check the TikTok server online.

1.Update the app

The first thing to do when you encounter this type of issue on TikTok, is to check if there is an update for the app.

If you’ve found that there is an update, you might not have received a notification about it.

As your phone could be filled with apps and or a lot of content.

Yet, for whatever reason, the notifications may stop suddenly from occurring for some apps.

So you may need to check for updates manually.

2.Check the TikTok “DownDetector” server

To do so, simply go to the “DownDetector” website, then take a look at the graph.

If you see that there is a spike on the graph, it means that there is a server issue, which can lead to an outage.

So checking the DownDetector app will help you find out if there is an issue with the app.

You may have to wait for 30 minutes at least and try again if you still can’t hide your chat on the TikTok live.

3.Uninstall and Reinstall the app

If you still encounter the same problem, uninstall and then reinstall the app.

By doing so, you’ll refresh all the app cache, without even having to go to the Settings and clearing the cache.

Because, sometimes, even clearing the cache couldn’t solve the issue.

So it’s better to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Finally, after doing all these steps, and still encountering the issue, you need to contact the TikTok support, by following the steps below.

Why Are My TikTok Live Comments Grey?

If you are trying to submit a comment on the TikTok live, and it doesn’t seem to go through, it’s likely that you’re facing an app issue.

Although you’re trying to hide the comments, you may find yourself commenting on the same TikTok live when the right moment arrives.

TikTok has revealed a fix for this issue, which is by following the steps below:

  • Go to the TikTok profile page.
  • Tap the three horizontal lines at the top right of the screen.
  • On the popup tap “Settings and privacy”.
  • When the Settings page opens, scroll down and tap on “Report a problem”.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap on “Crashing/lagging/network”.
  • Select “App not responding”, and tap on “Need more help”.
  • When the last page opens, write down what you’re facing on the TikTok live and that your comments are greyed out
  • Then tap on “Report” to send your issue to the TikTok support team.

Now if you’ve tried all the steps above and haven’t found a solution for the gray comments, you need to try removing restarting the app, clearing the cache of the app, or uninstalling then reinstalling it.

You can also follow the same method above to fix this issue.

But before uninstalling the app, make sure that you’ve transferred your TikTok drafts to another phone.
