Have you recently noticed that your Instagram profile picture is getting blurry when you’re trying to upload it?
The Instagram algorithm is getting smarter in adjusting the images that don’t fit its minimum requirements.
So your profile picture may look blurry on Instagram due to multiple factors.
The most common issue is the format and the quality of the image.
Then it comes to think about the other issues, such as the phone you’re using and your Instagram settings.
Today I will show you why your Instagram profile looks blurry and how to fix it.
Why Does My Instagram Profile Picture Look Blurry?
Your Instagram profile looks blurry, most likely because of its size or the phone on which the photo was taken.
For instance, if the aspect ratio of the image is unconventional, you’ll most likely get a blurry image.
The ideal aspect ratio of any profile picture is 1:1 (110px, 110px), which means it has to be a square image.
If the image isn’t in a square form, Instagram will fix it to fit the 1:1.
So as a result of uploading a rectangle image, it will be reshaped by the algorithm.
This may cause a reduction in your profile picture size and quality, which may look blurry.
1.Your photo quality is low
When you upload an image to Instagram, and you’re not aware of the aspect ratio requirements, you may get frustrated after seeing the results.
If the image quality is low, this will affect the final result of your uploads.
Low image quality is usually represented in a low pixel rate and a different file format.
For example, if you are uploading an image with (50px, 50px), this will for sure affect the quality on Instagram.
However, when you follow the minimum requirement which is (110px, 110px) you’ll get the best results.
2.The format of the photo is not compatible with Instagram
The ideal format of your profile picture on Instagram has to be in JPG format or in PNG.
If you upload a different format of your profile picture, Instagram may display it as blurry.
You can check the image format on your phone’s camera settings.
To do so, tap on the “Gear” icon on Android, and on iPhone, you can simply tap on the up arrow to adjust the ratio.
Once you capture the image, changing its format will take time.
So JPG is the best image format that is supported by Instagram.
That’s why it’s better to upload a JPG image for your profile picture.
3.Your Instagram uploading settings are changed
If your Instagram is adjusted to consume less data while using it, this may cause the image quality to get lower.
When the Data Usage settings are set to “Use less cellular data”, the app will try its best to save your phone’s internet usage.
This may result in getting a blurry profile picture on your Instagram account.
How To Fix Your Blurry Instagram Profile Picture?
To fix your blurry Instagram profile picture, you need to turn off the Data Saving if it’s ON, and adjust your camera aspect ratio.
When you turn the Data Saving mode Off, and you turn “High Quality” uploads ON, the quality of the images uploaded will get better.
Moreover, checking your phone’s software and adjusting your photo’s size might fix your issue.
1.Turn Off the Data Saving
To turn off the Data Saving on your Instagram app, open the app.
Then navigate to the “Settings” page by tapping on the “Three Horizontal” lines.
When you open the settings page, scroll down and tap on “Account”.
After getting to the new page, scroll down until you find the “Data Usage” on iPhone or “Cellular Data Usage” on “Android”.
Tap on the “Data Usage” or “Cellular Data Usage”.
On the new page, turn off the “Use less cellular data” and turn ON the “High-quality uploads”.
This is how you can get rid of the blurry Instagram profile photo from the app settings.
2.Adjust your camera settings
One of the main fixes to maintain a high-quality image and not only your profile picture is by making sure that your camera is taking high-quality images.
To adjust your camera settings on your iPhone, open the camera app.
On the camera page, tap on the “Up Arrow” icon.
Then a small menu will slide up above the capture button.
When the menu opens, tap on the “4:3” or “16:9”, depending on what you see.
Then adjust the ratio to select the “Square” option, to prevent getting a blurry profile picture on your Instagram.
On Android, when you open the camera page, tap on the “Gear” icon.
Then select the “Aspect Ratio” option, and choose “1:1” to resize the images that you want to capture.
3.Crop the image and change its format
If you have already captured an image, and you found out that it’s hard to undo what you’ve done, then you need to consider cropping the image.
To do so, open the image on your Gallery or Camera Roll.
Then tap on the “Edit” option, on both Android and iPhone.
When the image opens select the form of the image, which is the aspect ratio on “Square” or “1:1”.
After doing so, you’ll realize that Instagram will consider the image conventional, which means that your profile picture will not look blurry.
Now for the format of the image, consider checking the details of the image.
So on the image page, tap on the “i” icon, then you’ll see all the details of the image.
If you find other formats than JPEG and PNG, you need to use an online image converter to maintain a JPEG original format.
Can You Zoom In on Instagram Profile Pictures?
No, you can’t zoom the Instagram profile from the app, yet, you can take a screenshot of then zoom it.
When you open an account on Instagram, you can only see the posts.
The bad news is that you can’t even copy or tap on someone’s profile picture even using your PC.
So to zoom in on someone’s Instagram profile it’s better to take a screenshot and do so.
Conclusion
The key to success on Instagram is to get more engagement and reputation.
You can’t get these two components separately.
This is why you need to focus on adding the best images that you can.
One of the most important parts of the success journey is to get a high-quality profile picture that attracts users.
However, the format of the image has to be a JPEG or a PNG, to prevent getting a blurry profile picture.
