In addition, some other message requests will come as an advertisement from businesses.
So today I will show you how to see message request on Instagram and turn them off if you want.
How to See Message Requests on Instagram
To see the message requests on Instagram, tap on the “Chat” icon on your profile, then on the direct message page tap on “Requests”.
When the requests page opens, you will see all the message requests that come from other Instagram users.
As Instagram default privacy settings, your followers and non-followers messages will be held on the “Requests” menu.
So you can edit the privacy of your requests on the messages settings.
1.Open your Instagram Profile
Open your Instagram profile page on your Android or iPhone.
This method can work with both phones.
Also, it can be done with the businesses and professional accounts on Instagram as well as personal accounts.
We will use a business Instagram account to show you how to see message requests.
Which is similar to a personal account.
2.Go to the Direct message page
So, when you open your Instagram page.
Tap on the “Chat” icon, then your direct message page will open.
You will see three menus on this page.
Which are Chats, Calls, and Requests.
The number that is near the “Requests” word is the number of message requests you’ve received.
3.Tap on “Requests”
To see the message requests on Instagram, tap on “Requests”.
Then you will be navigated to the “Requests” messages page.
However, you can receive messages requests by default from your followers and other Instagram users.
But you can change this from the settings on the method below.
4.Check and See the message requests
Now that you’ve opened the messages requests page.
You will see all the messages of requests from other Instagram users, including your followers.
So tap on each message if you want to read what’s inside.
Then, after opening the conversation page, you can choose to block them or delete the user who sent the message.
But when you read the message, they can’t know when you’ve read it or if you are online or not.
What Happens When You Accept Message Request on Instagram
When you accept a message request on Instagram, the message will go to the direct messages page, and you will be able to chat, call with the person who sent the message.
They will also be able to see your activity status if you are online.
Now, if your Instagram profile is private, they can’t see your posts or stories.
Until they follow you, and you accept their follow request, so they become on your friends’ list.
However, non-followers users who sent you message requests on Instagram will not be able to see anything on your profile.
Now if you decided to decline or block the message you can do it by tapping on each button.
When you tap on “Decline” the message will disappear.
But if you tap on ”Block”, the person will not be able to find you again on Instagram or even see your posts.
How to Turn Off Message Requests on Instagram
To turn off message requests on Instagram, go to your Instagram settings, then privacy and tap on “Messages”, then turn off Messages Requests.
So when you turn off message requests, you will not see any message request from other Instagram users.
1.Open your Instagram settings
Open your Instagram profile, then tap on the three lines at the top right of the screen.
Now when the popup shows up tap on “Settings”.
Then you will be redirected to the Settings page.
2.Go to Messages
Now that you’ve opened the settings page, check for the “Privacy” button, then tap on it.
When the privacy pages open, hover down and tap on “Messages”.
The Messages page will open, so you can edit and see your Requests’ privacy here.
But there are some options that you can’t edit if you didn’t connect your Instagram with Facebook.
3.Turn off the Messages requests
So when you are on the Messages page, tap on “Your followers on Instagram”.
Then a new page will open where you can edit the Messages requests there.
Now, by default, you will that your followers’ messages will go to the “Message requests”.
So to turn it off, tap on “Don’t receive requests”.
When you turn it off, you will not receive or see any Message requests again on Instagram from your followers.
However, you can edit other options, as well as “Other people” and “Group chats”.
But only if your Instagram is connected with Facebook.
Conclusion
When you receive messages on Instagram from your followers and non-followers, it will come as a request.
So to see the message requests on Instagram, you can only check them from the direct messages.
But to turn the future message requests off, you can do this from the privacy settings page.
However, you can still block annoying or spammy users from the message requests page.
