Two girls translating a picture

If you saw a picture on the internet, or you’ve received one, and you want to translate the text on it, you may wonder how to translate text on a picture.

There are multiple methods to translate text on a picture.

But the best two methods to use are the Google app on a mobile phone or the Yandex image translator.

These two apps are the most powerful apps as they have an OCR technology that’s known as “Optical Character Recognition”.

So it captures and recognizes the objects on the picture, such as text.

So today I will show you how to translate text on a picture by applying two methods.

Note that we will be using the same text and language translation on both methods to show you the difference, so you can choose what are comfortable with.

Method1# Using Google app to Translate Text on Picture

The first method is to use the Google translator app to translate the text on any picture.

You can also translate a text live.

For example, when you point your phone’s camera toward any picture or object, the app will recognize the text and translate it for you.

However, you can’t use the Google PC version to translate an image online.

Instead, you can translate documents like PDF, XLSX, DOCX, etc.

So, to translate text on a picture using the Google app, you can use your phone only.

1.Download the Google Translate app

Download the Google Translate app

You can download the Google Translate app from Google Play or Apple Store.

It’s available for both iPhone and Android.

But before you continue, you have to edit the two translation languages by choosing them at the top of the screen.

Now tap on the “Import” button at the bottom right of the screen.

Then you will be redirected to your phone’s gallery page.

So choose the picture that you want to translate its text by tapping on it.

Then the picture will show up on the translation page.

After that, you will see small white rectangles on each word and phrase in the picture.

So you can drag your hand over the words to highlight what to translate, or you can simply tap on the “Select all” button to translate the whole text on the picture.

Now, after selecting the text on the picture, it will be translated.

Therefore, you can tap on the blue “Right Arrow” icon to go to the translation page.

4.Use the live camera

Use the Instant Google translator

Now that you’ve translated the text on a picture by importing it, it’s time to do a live translation.

So on the Google Translate app, tap on the “Camera” icon, and stay on the “Instant” page.

Then aim at the text that you want to translate on a picture or any other objects or images, and Google will translate the text instantly.

Therefore, tap on the “Pause Translation” button to pause the live camera, and resume it by tapping on “Continue Translation”.

However, you can use the “Scan” button to translate a specific text on a picture by scanning it and drawing over the words to translate them.
