How To Use Yandex Image Translator

If you’ve received images including text that is in a strange language, one of the best ways to translate these images text is to use Yandex image translator.

Yandex has an online free app that helps you to translate text in images in a very easy way.

They also have a mobile app and a Yandex Chrome extension that you can use to translate text in images.

Moreover, on the phone app, you can use the app to translate live text while moving the phone’s camera towards the documents or words.

But using the Yandex Chrome extension, you simply need to drag the cursor over the image and tap on the Yandex icon to translate it.

So today, I will teach you how to use Yandex image translator.

How To Use Yandex Image Translator

To use the Yandex image translator, visit the website, then drag an image to the translation page and translate the image.

You can use an image from your PC, or you can copy an image from the web and paste it.

So follow the steps carefully to know how it’s done.

1.Visit the Yandex Translator website

First, visit the Yandex image translator page.

The page will open in your country’s language, which will facilitate the work.

So when you open the page, you will see four menus at the top, which are “Text”, “Sites”, “Documents” and “Images”.

You can use the different menus as well if you are willing to translate different elements.

However, in our tutorial, we will focus on translating images only.

2.Adjust the translation languages

After opening the page, you can adjust the translation languages by clicking on the language names at the top of the page.

However, when you see a yellow point near the language name on the left, this means that the language auto-detect is ON.

So when you upload the image, the Yandex image translator will detect the language automatically.

As a sequence, you can leave it as it is, without changing the language on the left.

But if you want, you can switch it off by clicking on it, then switching off “Auto detect”.

Now click on the desired translation language on the right, and choose the language you want by clicking on the language or searching for it in the search box.

In our case, we will select the “Italian” language as the translation language.

You can click on the “Switch Arrows” icon to switch the languages when you want.

3.Upload your image

Now that you’ve made the Yandex image translator page ready, you can upload the image.

So select the image that you want to upload from your PC by clicking on “Select file to upload”.

Or you can drag the image directly into the translation page.

However, if you like, you can copy the image from the internet and paste it on the translator page.

Note that the supported images types are JPG, PNG, GIF, and other formats as well.

But the limit is 5 MB for the uploaded file, which is enough for an average quality image.

4.Verify the Translation

When you upload the image, the translator will translate it directly.

So you will see that the image has already been translated.

Now, you can click on the “Original” button at the top left to verify the difference between the original language and the translation language.

You can also use the left image adjusting menu to zoom in and out or rotate the image before downloading it.

5.Download the translated image

Download the image and check the text of the translation

After verifying the translation, you can download the image directly to your PC, or open it as a text.

So To download the translated image, tap on the “Download” button at the top right of the screen.

Then the file will be downloaded to your PC.

However, if you want to check the text and edit it directly, then click on the “Open as text”.

So you will be redirected to the Yandex translation page to check and edit your text.

Now, sometimes when you hover your cursor on a word on the text translator, you will see a blue highlight on each word in both languages.

Which helps you to know the original and translated word in both languages.

This shows you both original and translated language, so you can compare them together.

6.Use the app to Translate text in images

If you would like to use the app to translate text in images also, the Yandex image translator is available on both Android and iPhone.

So download the app, then open it.

Note that, we are using an Android phone for this tutorial.

After opening the app, tap on the “Photo” button at the bottom of the screen.

Then your phone will ask you for permission for the camera, so allow it.

Therefore, your phone’s camera will open, so you can pick an image from your gallery to translate it, or you can translate an image directly using the live translator.

Now, when you upload an image from your phone’s gallery, the Yandex image translator will show you the translation immediately.

So you can tap on “Show original” to verify the translation.

But, you can draw with your hand over the words that you want to translate individually.

However, if you want to edit the text, tap on the “T” icon at the top right of the screen.

Then you will be redirected to the Yandex text translator.

Now, if you want to download the image, the only way is to take a screenshot.

Otherwise, you have to use the PC version of the app.

Conclusion

Translating text in images saves you a lot of time, whereas, in the old days, you had to hire a translator to do it for you.

In addition to that, you had to pay them for the translation based on their hourly rate, then wait for them to do the translation for you.

Which it would have taken hours to do it sometimes.

So, using the Yandex image translator is free, and it translates the image immediately.
